And They’re Off!

As most of you may already know the Nokomis National Color Guard Team is off to the National Drill Competition in sunny Daytona Beach, Florida. The gang left early this morning at around 3:00 am for a two day van ride. I suppose they will most likely stop in North or South Carolina for some sleep and then make the push to Daytona. It looks like the competition will be held at Ocean Center Arena & Exhibit Hall. The date of competition according to the National Drill Competition website is Saturday, May 2, 2009 for the Challenge Level and Sunday & Monday, May 3 & 4, 2009 for the Masters Level.

Best of luck to the Nokomis Color Guard! I am sure more details are soon to come!

Blog?!? What is it?

Well by definition a blog is an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log (Reference Dictionary.com).

In other words it is just a collection of articles listed by their publish date. In our case the Nokomis JROTC blog well be used to post news stories or events that may be going on. It is kind of like an online newspaper but just about the Nokomis JROTC. It is also a meeting place or community where multiple people come together to comment and share ideas or express an opinion on a certain article.

Not only well this blog keep cadets involved and informed on what is happening, it will also serve as a way for parents and others on the big world wide web to learn what JROTC at Nokomis is all about.

Hopefully that clears everything up if this is your first time on a blog.

Remember to think twice before submitting articles and pictures on the internet. Once it is online, it is there forever!

Welcome to the Nokomis JROTC Blog

Welcome to the blog! This blog will start getting traffic come the end of August ’08. Trying to get everything set up and hopefully it will be a great tool to get cadets involved and to stay “in the know” of what is going on. Parents will be able to check out the blog and see what is happening in the JROTC program as well.

One of the cool features of this blog is you can subscribe to receive RSS updates. If you are in firefox looking at this blog in the url bar you’ll notice an orange icon. Just click on it and subscribe to the blog! Super simple and easy to do.

Anyway once everything is set we will let you know how it all works!
