Hey Look Here!

December 3rd, 2009

Hey everyone!  I just want to let everyone know that you can now be a fan to the Nokomis JROTC on FaceBook!  Just type in “Nokomis JROTC” on FaceBook, or hit the shortcut on the website.  Also, who likes to shop?  Want to help someone in the process?  Well now you can!  Help a kid by signing out a ‘gift bulb’ from the Giving Tree in the main office; if you have any questions see ACO Commander Laura Craig or ACO 1SG Brad Cookson.

Also, if you want to help a kid further, join us on Wednesday, Dec. 16th at the Newport/Plymouth Elementary School for their annual Holiday Craft Fair!  You can help kids ‘shop’ and wrap gifts for their families for a whole day (woohoo, no school!).  It’s loads of fun!  If you have any questions about this community service see ACO Commander Laura Craig, ACO 1SG Brad Cookson, or BNCO Audrey Sylvester.

Coming up this month, also, is our annual ‘Holiday Formation’.  This is our second largest get-together throughout the year where parents can come see what we do during our formations, and they can watch you get promoted or earn awards.  This year our formation is on Thursday, Dec. 17th @ 2:35 in the Nokomis gym.

This is going to be a busy month, so roll up those sleves and let’s get to it!

A Fresh Start!

November 21st, 2009

To all of my fellow cadets, this has been one heck of a year so far; but the past is the past, and now we have a new chapter to begin!  First things first: movement.  I know that movement can be a big pain, but sometimes it needs to be done.  With that said I want to congratulate all of our new Staff Members, and congratulations to those who have taken on new jobs in the Companies.  It took a lot of hard work for you to get to where you are today, so good job and keep up the good work!

Now, moving on to other business: there are a lot of other things that are going to change.  Communication is the most important one, then comes community services, fund raisers, and pumping up the Battalion.  I’m looking for excitement, and that excitement should start with our leadership! GET EXCITED!!! ;)   With plenty of cooperation and hard work we can make this one of the best years in JROTC ever, so let’s get started now!

Summer Camp

July 14th, 2009

What a time at camp. 9 cadets left on the 21 June to Camp Johnson, Vt. . A great time was had by all. The cadets from Nokomis led the way in all areas. Proving this Cadet Maj. Audrey Sylvester was ranked number two, with the award of Commandant award winner. Cadet Maj Nicole Pedone was ranked number 3 with the winning of the Esprit a Corps award. Other cadets that received awards was Cadet SSG Cody Thompson for the best in rope bridge, and best platoon. But now we move on for Corrina days the cadets from the JROTC received high praise for all of the work for the town. It was stated that the day would not have happened if not for the cadets. Next comes Summer fest on the 18 of July, and again cadets are in charge of the day, come by and enjoy the day. Please check out the photos on the page with more to come, from a proud 1SG.
